“The Lure of Traverse City”
The Grand Traverse Region has been featured as one of the Top Ten Places to live, work and retire by many national and well-respected publications such as USA Today, Golf Digest, Midwest Living, Outside Magazine and Better Homes and Gardens. Traverse City has made many other top 10 lists as a Foodie Town, Small Cities in Michigan and recently, Good Morning America viewers voted nearby Glen Arbor as the “Most Beautiful Place in America.”
Traverse City is recognized as a world-class vacation destination for its quality of life, natural beauty, farm-to-table restaurant “foodie” scene, 30+ award-winning wineries, T.C. Film Festival, Cherry Festival and more than a dozen craft breweries. Naturally, we have four distinct seasons each with its own splendorous beauty plus abundant outdoor recreational activities including boating, golf, skiing, tennis, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, kayaking, sailing, fishing and more!
Traverse City offers a safe and friendly environment with excellent schools, low crime, dozens of public beaches & parks, a vibrant Downtown shopping district and thriving fine arts scene including Dennos Museum, City Opera House, Old Town Playhouse and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Northwestern Michigan Community College offers adult classes in many subjects ranging from foreign languages to pottery to yoga. Cherry Capital Airport is served by three major airlines offering direct flight to several major Cities daily including Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis. Lastly, Munson Medical Center offers state-of-the art medical care facilities and physicians.
The natural beauty of the Grand Traverse Bays (East & West), dozens of crystal clear, sandy bottom inland lakes, rivers and streams, Pine and hardwood forests, rolling Countryside with vineyards and Cherry Orchards make this area truly special. It's a water wonderland and nature lover’s paradise! There are numerous hiking and biking trails that are well marked and easy to access within minutes of Downtown. Sleeping Bear National Park and Lakeshore is located 30 minutes West of T.C. and has thousands of acres for you to explore the sand dunes and mature hardwood forests, sandy beaches and Historic Coastal Villages. The TART Recreational Bike Trail covers more than 30 miles between Acme and Suttons Bay and loops around Boardman Lake for a scenic and safe place to ride bikes with the entire family!
